Marla Saltzman, Ph.D., BCBA-D

Dr. Marla Saltzman is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who received her Ph.D. in applied behavior analysis and her master’s degree in psychology. Marla began working with children with autism in 1995, while completing her bachelor’s degree in psychology with highest honors at the University of California, San Diego.
Prior to founding Autism Behavior Intervention in 2005, Marla worked with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) for close to 10 years, ultimately as a Senior Clinical and Research and Development Supervisor. In 1999, Dr. Saltzman’s passion for providing behavioral treatment for children with autism took her to Sydney, Australia where she established and managed a highly-respected practice, providing treatment and consultation to over 100 children and their families. Upon her return to the United States in 2002, Marla began work as the primary author of CARD‘s language curriculum, while continuing to design treatment programs for young children across the autism spectrum and travelling nationally and abroad, training parents and autism professionals to provide effective treatment programs.
Marla co-founded Autism Behavior Intervention to focus exclusively on providing effective autism treatment to children and adolescents locally in Los Angeles County. Currently, her work at ABI centers on ensuring clinical quality by overseeing all clinical operations and by training and mentoring ABIs program supervisors.
Marla has presented at numerous national and international conferences and has served as a guest reviewer for the journal, The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. She is also adjunct faculty in the Applied Behavior Analysis graduate program at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles and has guest lectured for the behavioral clinical psychology graduate program at California State University, Northridge. Her current research interests include early intensive behavior intervention, verbal behavior, and complex human behavior such as perspective taking and problem solving.
Dr. Saltzman lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband and son.
