Yelena Nevarez, M.S., BCBA
Program Supervisor
Yelena studied at California State University, Northridge, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Chicano Studies in 2018. Soon after graduating, she began working at ABI as a skills trainer. A year and a half later, she was promoted to lead skills trainer where she trained and inspired new employees with her cheerful and charismatic attitude.
Her favorite part of this career includes teaching new skills to her clients, seeing them progress, providing compassionate care, and developing trusting relationships with her clients and their families. These attributes motivated Yelena to pursue a Master of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at Pepperdine University. She graduated with honors and is now using her knowledge, skills, ongoing training, and support from the ABI staff to provide individualized, high-quality, evidence-based services to the children and families that live in Los Angeles County.
Yelena is originally from Sinaloa, Mexico but has lived in the San Fernando Valley for 17 years alongside her family. Throughout her career, she hopes to provide evidence-based services to her Latino/a community and inspire Latina women to pursue master’s degrees.

My favorite part about my job is watching the smiles on my client’s faces when they see me walk into their home. They know it is time to play, laugh, dance, and learn!
